At Hope Church, we value connection and community. Our teachings are built around connecting people to God and each other.
We are a welcoming and open church that encourages people to come and share in the love of Jesus. Come join our community and grow in your faith alongside others who have the same beliefs and values.
Hope church is simply a group of real people serving a real God. We are located in the downtown area of Marlette, but our congregation comes from all over the thumb of Michigan.
Hope Church was planted in January 2011 by Paul and Erin Rohling. Paul and Erin have been actively involved in various ministries before being called to plant a church in the heart of Marlette. What started as a small group of people meeting in an old café, turned into a few hundred people coming weekly to worship God in Marlette’s downtown area.
It’s our mission to live by faith, to be known by love, and to be a voice of hope. As we move forward as a church family, inclusion and belonging remain at the center of who we are as followers of Christ.
What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you're always welcome at Hope Church. Wherever you're at in your faith journey, you'll always be accepted as part of the Hope family.
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to be known for our love for one another.
We strive to glorify God through worship that is rooted in scripture, and that draws us closer to Him.
We are called to serve our community and those in need, through both physical and spiritual acts of love and kindness.
We seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all people, and to share the gospel through both deed and word.
We prioritize the practice of discipling others in the faith, helping them to grow in their understanding of the Bible and their relationship with God.
We strive to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us, using them to meet the needs of the church and community.
We seek to foster unity in diversity, standing together as a church family united in our purpose of sharing God’s love.
We strive to be a holy people, living in obedience to God’s Word and in surrender to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission, making disciples of Jesus Christ in our region and beyond.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe in the Trinity, which is the doctrine that God is one, existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three persons of the Trinity are distinct and unified, co-existing in perfect harmony and working together as one. We believe that the Trinity is an essential part of understanding God and His purpose for us. By embracing the Trinity, we can have a deeper relationship with the Lord and better understand His will for our lives.
We believe God the Father is the source of all things, the creator of the universe, and the sustainer of life. He is described in Scripture as a loving and just God, who desires a relationship with His creation. The sustenance provided by the Father is not merely physical but also spiritual, as He continually upholds the moral order of the universe. The Father is seen as a loving provider who meets the needs of His creation, ensuring that the world He crafted continues to flourish and reflect His glory.
We believe The Son is the physical form that God took in the person of Jesus Christ. Through the incarnation, Jesus experienced the full range of human emotions, joy and sufferings, making Him relatable to us. This act of taking on flesh demonstrates God’s deep love and commitment to humanity, bridging the gap that sin had created. The Son’s role as the Savior is most clearly seen in His redemptive work on the cross. Jesus’ death and resurrection are the cornerstone of Christian belief, offering forgiveness and reconciliation to God.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Trinity. Often described as the “Counselor” or “Advocate,” the Holy Spirit provides wisdom, direction, and understanding to those who seek to follow God’s will. This guidance is not limited to moral decisions but encompasses all aspects of life, including relationships, career choices, and personal growth. The Holy Spirit works within the hearts of believers, illuminating the scriptures and making the presence of God real and tangible in their daily lives.
We believe in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was sent by God to save us and give us eternal life. Salvation is only possible through faith in Jesus and repentance of our sins. We understand that we are saved through grace and not by any works of our own. The Bible teaches us that no matter what mistakes we make, God’s love and grace are always available to us. We believe that through accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are able to have the assurance of salvation and the promise of eternal life with God.
We believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible, that it is the true and inspired word of God. We believe that the Bible is our standard for life, and its truth, integrity, and relevance is of utmost importance. The Bible is not just a book, but a living guide, full of God’s wisdom and guidance. Through scripture, we learn about God’s character, how to live and act, and how to grow in our spiritual journey. We believe that by reading and studying the Bible, we are able to draw closer to God and deepen our understanding of His love.
We believe in the importance of water baptism. Baptism symbolizes a believer's commitment to Jesus and His teachings and is an outward act of professing our faith in Him. We believe that baptism is essential to Christian discipleship. Baptism is a sacred and meaningful experience, and we are deeply committed to helping believers celebrate this important milestone in their journey of faith.
We believe that the Church is a holy assembly of believers, who strive to be a community who are united in our faith to Jesus Christ and are committed to serve Him and His kingdom.
We believe in the power of prayer, both individually and corporately, as an expression of faith in God's work in our lives. Prayer is an essential part of a Christian life and is used to communicate with God. Through prayer, we seek to deepen our understanding of God's will and His plans for our lives. Prayer is a beautiful and powerful way to communicate with our Heavenly Father.
